Comments on work from Reviews and Colleagues:
Reviews of A View from the Bridge
at Redwist (formerly Actors Workshop Theatre):
"Eva Gil brings naive charm and
unexpected spine to Catherine."
Reviewed by Kerry Reid, The Chicago Tribune
"Catherine (Eva Gil), a young
woman who is sure to break a lot of hearts. Eva Gil
knows just when to sniffle and shed a tear as the young
woman, old enough to make up her own mind, but not wanting
to hurt the people she cares about." Reviewed
by Ruth Smerling, TheatreWorld
Reviews of Perfect at the side project
"Thomas Whittington and Eva Gil provide top-notch,
honest portrayals of Natalie's high school friends,
both of whom become unwittingly entangled in her dilemma.
The play is haunting and disturbing..." Reviewed
by Colin Douglas, Centerstage
“Eva Gil as Natalie’s socially desperate
classmate, emerges as a real kid blundering her way
through a teenage wasteland. You almost wish there was
a play just about her.”
Reviewed by Nina Mertz, The Chicago Tribune
“There are likeable performances from Thomas
Whittington as the high school hunk Trevor and Eva Gil
as Natalie’s best friend Sandra that nicely express
the confusions of teenage hormones.”

Reviews from Tallgrass Gothic produced
by 5th Floor
"Under the direction of Jimmy McDermott, the dramatic
progress displays the formality of classical pre-Renaissance
art, while also invoking the suppressed emotions reflective
of the 19th-century literary movement also designated
"gothic", its measured pace generating a tension
so palpable that the snap of a pop-top, or the crunch
of a discarded beer can crushed beneath a merciless
foot, conveys all the menace of an ammunition round
chambered in a rifle. The mostly young actors likewise
never succumb to twitchy self-consciousness, but retain
a concentrated focus their every onstage moment...superlative
ensemble work..."
Reviewed by Mary Shen Barnidge, Windy City Times
"...the production provides a potent emotional
punch. We'll be watching for this group...the feeling
of simultaneous claustrophobia and wide-open emptiness
is beautifully evoked both by the simple set (a dirt-platform
"cornfield" and a metal bed) and the way the
actors inhabit it."

Colleagues:
"Her creativity is boundless and her work as an
actor is truthful and unadorned." --John Romeo,
NYSTI, Resident Actor
"Her commitment to the physical life of her character
was refreshing, as she was always willing to try something
new." --Megan Wills, Director
"...she was compelling and evocative in The
Children's Hour." --Ed.Lange, Associate Artistic
Director, NYSTI
"It was a pleasure to work with an actress as
dedicated, committed, and talented as Eva is. She is
a valuable asset to any production." Steven Bloom,
Director
